When living in Durban, South Africa, there was a lovely, cheery street vendor who made paper flowers from the coloured paper discarded by the nearby offices. I have fond memories of him shouting after me as he did with everyone that bought a flower or three from him, “Bless your mother!” This is my nod to someone who made the best of what he was dealt and my thank you for cheering me up so many days.
